Meet Jade Torres and Her Children

In September 2020, we began construction on the 12th Habitat for Humanity to be built in San Juan County.  Jade Torres and her three children will move into their new home in Bloomfield when construction is finished in the Spring of 2021.

In a recent interview, Jade described what it means to her family to have a home of their own, "I have always wanted to be a homeowner, but I didn’t know how I could do it.  This program made it a possibility for me."
 
"In the past, I rented an apartment with my sister.  Now, I will be able to afford a home of my own for approximately the same cost of splitting rent.  I think this is going to be a great opportunity for my family to be comfortable in life and even get ahead in the future."

Jade and her children, along with their dog Skyla, are looking forward to moving into their new home, backyard barbecues, and gardening.   This will be the first time Jade and her children have lived in a home all their own.  In the past, she's always lived with family.
